TIMERGARA: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf activists in Lower Dir on Friday demanded of the government to establish a new administrative division comprising Lower Dir, Upper Dir, Lower Chitral, Upper Chitral and Bajaur districts. They also sought appropriate funds for development projects in the region.
The demands were made during an Eid Milan party arranged by the PTI activists at Timergara Rest House. The function was addressed by PTI’s former divisional deputy general secretary Ali Shah Mishwani, president Insaf Lawyers’ Forum Mian Gul Wajeehuddin, Malik Inam Khan and Faridoon Khan. PTI workers from all parts of the district attended the function.
The speakers said that the local PTI lawmakers kept the workers away from Chief Minister Mahmood Khan during his visit to the district a few days ago.
They alleged that genuine workers of the party had been sidelined in Lower Dir.
Seek funds for uplift projects in Dir, Chitral and Bajaur districts
They said the party high command should take notice of nepotism of the PTI lawmakers.
They said that the district had been ignored in development for the last one year. They said that merit policy was being violated by the PTI lawmakers, who had even failed to get due share in development funds for the district.
The PTI activists said they were not satisfied with the chief minister’s announcements of development projects as there had been no allocation of funds so far.
The speakers demanded of the provincial government to establish a new division comprised of five districts of Malakand, including Lower Dir, Upper Dir, Lower Chitral, Upper Chitral and Bajaur districts. They also urged the government to include scenic spots of the area in tourism development strategy, establish an industrial zone in Dir and include the Chakdara-Chitral highway in CPEC project.
BUS STAND: Timergara tehsil nazim Riaz Mohammad on Friday said that Rs28.5 million had been spent on reconstruction and renovation of Timergara general bus stand.
Talking to mediapersons here, the nazim said that work on footpath, shades for vehicles, blacktopping of the floor, installation of streetlights and construction of a mosque for women at the bus stand had been completed.
