FDMA abolished, functions given to PDMA

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has abolished the Fata Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) and transferred its functions and jurisdiction to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).

A notification issued by the Relief, Rehabilitation and Settlement (RRS) Department said that in pursuance of Article 25 of the Constitution and merger of defunct Fata as well its administrative setup with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the KP chief minister has approved the abolition of FDMA.

It says that as such the post of director general FDMA shall stand abolished and a unit named ‘Complex Emergencies’ wing, headed by a director, shall stand created in PDMA. The wing would be headed by an officer of BS-19 and would have strength of 64 officials.

It said that the existing staff of FDMA shall report to the DG PDMA through director complex emergencies.

It said that consequently, the policies of provincial government, including relief compensation, civilian victims support fund and other policies under the RRS Department, shall stand extended to merged districts mutatis mutandis with immediate effect.
