TOBA TEK SINGH: The Saddar police claimed on Wednesday to have arrested three members of a gang including a woman who introduced themselves as members of the Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) to extort money from health practitioners in rural areas of Gojra.

On refusal of any health practitioner to pay money, the gang would blackmail by making videos.

According to the FIR lodged under sections 384, 170, 119 and 120 of PPC on the complaint of a hakeem of Chak 372 JB, Bujianwali, the suspects Muhammad Shahid, Imran Latif and Samina Malik, all belonging to Faisalabad, came to his clinic and asked him to pay Rs10,000 as bribe as he used unregistered medicines otherwise his clinic would be sealed. He said they also made a video of his clinic and threatened that it would be on air on a TV channel over which he paid the demanded money.

He said he later came to know that they were doing the same activities in nearby villages so he informed police and a team arrested them. Police recovered fake media channel cards and cameras and impounded the car they had been using.

SHELTER HOME: A shelter home will be constructed inside the DHQ hospital for the attendants and relatives of indoor patients.

This was stated on Wednesday by Deputy Commissioner Mian Mohsin Rashid during his visit to the hospital. He said Rs8 million would be spent on the construction of two separate halls where 50 beds each would be made available. He said all the money was being spent by a philanthropist.
