LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leaders vowed not to let the PML-N complete its “save corruption revolution” and said those trying to remove Articles 62 and 63 from the Constitution would be considered no less than criminals.
Addressing a public gathering in NA-118, Chaudhry Sarwar, Mahmoodur Rasheed, Dr Yasmin Rashid, Ejaz Chaudhry, Waleed Iqbal and others said Nawaz Sharif’s politics was over and now he and his family members should get ready to face accountability references. The PML-N’s political manifesto had always revolved around corruption and looting of national wealth.
“People of Pakistan will make an example out of Nawaz Sharif with the power of their votes,” Sarwar said.
Mr Sarwar, who has been given a go-ahead to contest the general elections from NA-118, said Imran Khan was fighting to restore the nation’s rights and interests in the country. The whole nation stood with Khan in his fight against corruption and looting by politicians, he claimed.
Rasheed said Sharif was now trying to fool masses by talking about bringing a revolution.
“Nawaz Sharif’s accountability will be the real revolution in the country,” he added.
Dr Yasmin said Imran Khan had launched the campaign to bring all the corrupt to book and the PML-N leadership would soon land in jails.
PTI central Punjab President Abdul Aleem Khan said Mr Sharif was still in shock and not accepting ground realities. He asked why Mr Sharif and his party could not ensure cheap and instant justice to the nation during the family’s 30-year rule. He claimed Mr Khan had found the root cause of the country’s problems and demanded an investigation into all corrupt and looters in the country. He stressed that state institutions should perform their duties honestly and help the country progress.
Meanwhile, PTI’s local leaders took out Independence Day rallies and cut cakes to celebrate the occasion in various parts of the city. PTI youth and workers were riding motorbikes and carrying national and party flags.
