Two killed for ‘honour’ in North Nazimabad

KARACHI: A 22-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were stabbed to death allegedly for ‘honour’ in the Umer Farooq Colony area of North Nazimabad on Friday, according to Gulberg SP Bashir Ahmed Brohi.

The officer said Sajid Bahadur and Kalsoom were stabbed to death allegedly by her father, Gul Feroz, and brother, Gul Zaib, at their home. The suspects managed to escape along with their family members following the murder, he added.

They were murdered at around 4am, while the police received the information later in the morning. The police seized the weapon used in the double murder and shifted the bodies to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

The victims were neighbours.

Gulberg SP Brohi said an initial probe suggested that the double murder was an ‘honour killing’ issue.

Suicide

A young father committed suicide by slitting his throat with a knife at his home in North Nazimabad, Block-S, police said.

Nasir Sher Khan, 26, was emotionally disturbed owing to which his wife had divorced him, said Gulberg SP Brohi.

After the divorce, Nasir was living with his son and sister at his home, the officer said, adding that he had survived suicide attempts in the past.
