Microsoft becomes India’s first cloud service provider

MUMBAI: Information technology giant Microsoft has been given provisional accreditation by the ministry of electronics and information technology, becoming one of the first providers to offer global cloud services and enabling it to deliver its cloud solutions to government agencies and departments.

The accreditation empowers government agencies and departments in India to select Microsoft Cloud to advance their digital transformation, optimise IT operations and transform societies, the company said in a statement.

With this accreditation, Microsoft can help the Indian government in its journey to provide transformational e-governance services, financial inclusion opportunities, quality healthcare and education to people in the country.
