Teenager killed in blast outside Imambargah in Karachi, 15 others injured

A boy was killed and 15 other people, including women and children, were reportedly injured when an explosion occurred outside Dar-i-Abbas Imambargah on Monday evening in Karachi's Liaquatabad area, DawnNews reported.

SSP Central Muqaddas Haider, while talking to Dawn, confirmed the death of teenage boy. The deceased has been identified as 13-year-old Faraz s/o Bashir, he said.

Meanwhile, Sharifabad police officials said that unknown suspects riding a motorcycle threw an improvised explosive device (IED) at the Imambargah, causing several injuries to persons.

The injured were rushed to nearby hospital, where condition of one child is considered critical.

The additional police surgeon at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Dr Rohina Hassan, also confirmed the death.

“We received one person brought dead and several others injured,” she said.

Dr Rohina further informed Dawn that more than a dozen injured have been brought to the hospital.

The injured include women and children who were coming out of the Imambargah after attending a majlis, they added.

The Imambargah is located in the Federal Capital area locality of the metropolis.
