LAHORE: A meeting of members of the civil society took place on Monday presided over by former Supreme Court Bar Association president and rights activist Asma Jehangir.
According to a press release, participants in the meeting stressed that the draft Hindu Marriage Bill has been in cold storage for long.
They demanded the draft bill be passed and implemented immediately.
The civil society also urged that before the passage of the bill, the Hindu community, especially women, should be taken into confidence.
The meeting also highlighted that there was a need to stop forced conversions of the Hindus. Under the current circumstances, such laws should be introduced in Pakistan that were in line with international laws.
