NA-122: scrutiny of 117 stations completes

LAHORE: A local commission made to inspect election record of NA-122, on Wednesday completed scrutiny of 117 polling stations of the constituency.

The commission comprising retired sessions judge Ghulam Husain Awan also completed the inspection of 117 polling stations of provincial assembly constituency PP-147, falling within the national assembly constituency (NA-122). The constituency has a total of 284 polling stations.

The commission had been holding inspection in presence of Shoaib Siddiqui and Ali Ayaz, representatives of Imran Khan and Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, respectively.

An election tribunal had ordered inspection of the record on an application of Imran Khan who alleged that victory of Sadiq was a result of rigging.

Representative of the PTI stated that 10,000 counterfoils of the votes had been found without signature and stamps of presiding officer during the scrutiny held so far. He said polling bags of polling stations No. 43 and 58 were yet to be retrieved from the record.

Representative of the other side, PML-N, said lack of signature/stamp on the counterfoils was the fault of election staff and did not fall within the definition of rigging.
