TOBA TEK SINGH: Sindhillianwali farmers have demanded the implementation of Sindhillianwali-Nakreri proposed river Ravi bridge project.

Pirmahal Progressive Farmers Association President Rana Muhammad Ashraf told a press conference that in 2012 then prime minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani had approved construction of the bridge at Nakreri. The bridge will cut the distance between GT Road (at Mian Channu) and Sindhillianwali by 70 kilometres.

He said the Gilani government released Rs50 million for the project which were spent on survey, paper work and feasibility report. Once Mr Gilani was disqualified by the Supreme Court in 2012, the project was shelved.

He said people residing the either side of the river had to travel 70 kilometres to get across the river.

sarwar: Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has said the Punjab government is not only utilising all its sources for the rehabilitation of flood-hit people, but also giving them financial aid to help them restart their lives.

Addressing at a function to distribute cheques among 1,000 flood-hit families at the Government Boys Higher Secondary School in Sindhillianwali, the governor said that in the second phase compensation would be given to flood affectees against their loss of property, cattle and crops.

He added it was an example of good governance of the provincial government that its ministers and officials remained on duty round the clock to serve the flood victims.

Sarwar announced to provide a modern water filtration plant for Sindhillianwali and added such plants were already being installed in all government schools and hospitals all over Punjab. He also visited the Foundation Hospital in Rajana.

ACCIDENT: Three members of a family died and one was injured in an accident on Sunday in Kamalia.

According to Kamalia Saddar police, a car collided with a truck head on near Khan Da Chak, some 8km away from Kamalia on the Kamalia-Chichawatni road. Three men died while a woman was injured seriously.

Rani Bibi had gone to live with her relatives in Phalia after a dispute with her family. Her family members Ghulam Qadir, Alam Sher and Muhammad Nawaz travelled to Phalia and managed to convince her to return with them.

On reaching near Khan Da Chak on the way back to their village, their car collided with a truck, killing the three men instantly and injuring Rani critically. Their bodies were recovered from the car by cutting through it. The injured was admitted to the THQ Hospital.
