Little Master Hanif recovering after stroke

KARACHI: Former Pakistan captain Hanif Mohammad who suffered a stroke a couple of days ago is making steady recovery at the Aga Khan Hospital, his grandson Shehzar Mohammad informed on Wednesday.

“My grandfather suffered a stroke which was confirmed from the MRI tests and other procedures carried out by the doctors on Tuesday,” Shehzar said while speaking from the hospital.

Former opening batsman Hanif, known as the ‘Little Master’ was rushed to hospital on Sunday evening due to high fever, vomiting and dizziness.

“Due to the stroke, my grandfather developed some speech problems but he is making steady progress now as he is undergoing physiotherapy and speech therapy sessions,” added Shehzar, himself a first class cricketer and son of Shoaib Muhammad who is currently in Bangladesh as fielding coach of the Pakistan team.

The 80-year-old Hanif underwent a cancer surgery in London last year to remove the right lobe of his liver. —APP
