LAHORE, Dec 9: Fifteen traffic police officials have been arrested from different districts of the Punjab while collecting Eidee from motorists.

Official sources said here on Sunday the traffic police had constituted teams in each district to arrest the officials extorting bribe from the motorists.

Led by superintendents and deputy superintendents of police, the teams raided and caught 15 officials red-handed. Cases against them have been registered under anti-corruption act.

Punjab Traffic DIG Altaf Qamar has directed that the officials who were bringing bad name to department should also be dismissed from services under efficiency and discipline rules.

The traffic officials have been directed to take a lenient view on minor violations during the last week of Ramazan.
