ISLAMABAD, Dec 9: The Chief Executive Secretariat has directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to immediately remove cattle present in the vicinity of the Constitution Avenue, a source at the Secretariat told Dawn.
The source said the deputy secretary of the Chief Executive Secretariat, Masud Ahmed Shah, sent a letter to the CDA chairman, Mir Laiq Shah, asking him to take brisk measures for the removal of the cattle. Responding to the letter, the CDA chairman directed the Authority’s environment directorate to take steps for the redressal of the problem.
The letter said the presence of cattle in a sensitive area spoke of the negligence of the CDA’s directorate concerned. The source said over 4,500 cattle-pens with more than 40,000 cows and buffaloes were present in the twin cities. Besides, polluting the environment, the cattle also created traffic hazards, he added.
