LAHORE, April 30: Punjab Health Minister Dr Tahir Ali Javed on Wednesday stressed the need for in-service training of young doctors in administrative, financial and audit matters to enable them effectively discharge their duties in the province’s remote areas.

Presiding over a meeting at the Public Health Development Centre, he said training in these field would also help the young doctors manage the health centres without difficulty.

The minister directed his department officials to conduct research in various public health disciplines with regard to the training of master trainers and public health managers at district and tehsil levels so that better facilities could be extended to the people by fully utilizing the available government resources.

He said the department should be made a centre of excellence so that it could provide good technical support to the provincial health services through research.

He also directed the officials to provide technical support to the district health development centres.
