DERA ISMAIL KHAN, April 30: A local court rejected the bail application of former provincial minister Amanullah Khan Kundi on Tuesday.

Mr Amanullah Kundi alias Manu Khan had surrendered to D.I.Khan police on April 22 after absconding for nearly 10 years. The Anti-Narcotics Court in Karachi had awarded him 25 years imprisonment in a drug trafficking case in 1991.

He fled from jail in 1993 to the tribal area of South Waziristan Agency and the case was registered against him with the Cantt police station here under FIR No.384 dated 10/7/1993 under sections 225B/223/224/221/109/120B.

Mr Kundi remained provincial minister in 1988 Aftab Sherpao cabinet as he was elected MPA from district Tank constituency. He filed his bail application in the court of civil judge No.8, D.I.Khan, Mr Alamgir Shah, in the fleeing from jail case on April 23 and the court had fixed the hearing for Tuesday.

After hearing the counsel of both sides, the court rejected the bail application.
