ISLAMABAD, April 29: Ambassador of Yemen Ghaleb Saeed Al Adoofi and Charge d’ Affaires of Iran Reza Allae’i separately called on Senate chairman Mohammadmian Soomro in his chamber at Parliament House on Tuesday.

During the meetings, matters of mutual interest were discussed. They also exchanged views on bilateral cooperation, particularly exchange of parliamentary delegations, regional and international issues.

The Yemeni ambassador extended an invitation from Abdul Aziz Abdul Ghani, the chairman of Majlis-i-Shoora (upper house), to Mr Soomro to visit Yemen, which was reciprocated. The Senate chairman asked the ambassador to convey his good wishes to the Yemeni leadership.

The Iranian Charge d’ Affaires, Reza Allae’i delivered a letter from Mehdi Karroubi, the speaker of Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran, to Mr Soomro, congratulating him on assumption of the office of Senate chairman.

He also expressed the hope that his tenure would witness close relations between the parliaments of the two countries and all-round expansion of ties between Pakistan and Iran.

Reciprocating the sentiments, the Senate chairman thanked the Iranian speaker for his message of felicitations.
