KARACHI, Sept 19 The big city remained abuzz with football activity on Sunday as three more Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) matches were played at separate venues in the city.
Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) easily beating Habib Bank Limited (HBL) 2-0 at the Peoples Sports Complex.
KESC's winger Abdul Rehman scored through a header in the 27th minute soon after the bankers were reduced to 10 men on the field after their midfielder Sameer Ahmed got a red card from match referee Jahangir Khan in the 24th minute.
Rough play prevailed throughout the match as HBL's Zakir Lashari, too, got a warning in the shape of a yellow card in the 85th minute. And not to be left behind at anything KESC's Orangzeb Jr also joined the yellow card club in the 33rd minute.
KESC's captain Mohammad Essa scored the second goal for his side in the 90th minute.
Meanwhile, Karachi Port Trust (KPT) beat Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) 2-1 at the KPT- Benazir Sports Complex in close by Kharadar.
SSGC, who led 1-0 at interval, have themselves to blame for the defeat as they presented KPT with the winning goal in the form of an own goal in the concluding minutes of the match.
SSGC's winger Asif Faiz got them the first goal in the 45th minute but KPT restored parity in the 69th minute through their striker Jalaluddin.
Finally, as a result of confusion inside the box, SSGC's stopper Abdul Samad pushed in a pass from KPT's winger Zafar Majeed into his own goal in the 81st minute to let his rivals win the match by 2-1.
The third encounter saw National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) holding Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to a 3-3 draw at the CDGK Stadium in Saddar.
Saddam Hussain (29th min), Abdul Aziz (57th min) and Farooq Shah (69th min) scored for NBP while PIA's three goals were scored by Hasnain Abbas (38th min), their skipper Nasrullah Khan (40th min) and Mohammad Ishtiaq (86th min).
Monday's fixtures Afghan FC v Baloch FC at Jamal Nasir Stadium, Chaman; Army v KRL at Municipal Stadium, Rawalpindi; PAF v Navy at PAF Complex, Peshawar. Matches kick off at 4.00pm.
