Felon escapes from lock-up

OKARA, April 28: An alleged felon, involved in more than 50 murders, burglaries and highway robberies, escaped from Renala city police station lock-up, is still at large.

Akram alias Akri, a resident of 20/1-RB near Renala Khurd, was arrested five months ago by the Lahore traffic police for violating rules on a motorcycle having no number plate. He was wanted by Okara, Kasur, Lahore, Sheikhupura and Gujranwala police.

Renala city police took Akri for investigation of woman’s murder and robbery cases two days ago from where he managed to escape. Police station moharrar Nisar has been arrested while Constable Allah Yar who was on guard duty is still at large.

According to police, Akram went to his house, just one kilometre away from Renala town, after escape and took along his family members.

CONTRABAND SEIZED: Okara police, on a tip off, arrested three alleged drug pushers and recovered two kilograms of opium and hashish besides 27 bottles of liquor from their possession.

They are; Sohat Shah of Chak 9/1-R, Tahir and Riaz. Police have registered a case against them.

SODOMY: A youth allegedly sodomised a 12-year-old boy in Chak 23/2-L.

Police have registered a case against Afzal with no arrest.
