LAHORE, Feb 28 Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) moved into the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy National Cricket Championship final on Saturday on net run rate after Group 'A' contenders National Bank were unable to force victory against SNGPL at the Sports Stadium in Sargodha.

KRL and National Bank finished with 51 points each in Group 'A', but the former won the right to play Group 'B' winners Sialkot in the final by a marginal difference of +0.027 on net run rate.

The five-day final will be played at the Jinnah Stadium in Sialkot from Tuesday.

Starting the fourth and final day of the preliminary round, National Bank, who took three first-innings points, were dismissed for 242 in the second innings. Mohammad Hafeez, the SNGPL skipper, claimed five for 77.

Hafeez then stroked an unbeaten 100 as last season's champions batted out the remaining time to finish at 162-2 after they were set a target of 277.

Multan and Lahore Ravi were the only winners on Saturday. Multan trounced Abbottabad by nine wickets at the Gymkhana Club Ground in Okara with skipper Abdur Rauf setting up the victory. The out-of-favour Pakistan paceman grabbed five for 44 as Abbottabad made 248 in their second innings.

Lahore Ravi's hero was their off-spinner Usman Malik who returned a match haul of 10 for 147 as hosts Islamabad suffered a demoralizing 220-run defeat at the Diamond Club Ground.

Usman followed his four for 63 in the first innings with figures of six for 84 as Islamabad capitulated for 217 in the second innings while chasing a daunting target of 438.
