Man beaten up by police

MANSEHRA, April 28: A waiter of the new circuit house was severely beaten up by a police SHO on the instructions of ASP Oghi here the other day.

Sources said Rashid, the deputy district officer (revenue) in Mansehra, had been residing in the new circuit house for the last one year. On the fateful day Rashid asked Suleman, the waiter, to prepare lunch for him. Suleman refused, saying he was a waiter and not a cook and could not prepare food. This infuriated Rashid, who asked his brother Ahmed Jamal, who is ASP Oghi, to teach a lesson to Suleman.

The ASP allegedly sent an SHO from Oghi, who thrashed Suleman and warned him that he would be sent to the tribal belt of Kala Dhaka if he did not mend his ways.

Suleman has filed a written complaint with the district coordination officer on which an inquiry has been ordered which will commence from April 30.
