PESHAWAR, April 28: The Peshawar city district government has reiterated it would fulfil its responsibilities in providing a clean environment to the citizens and remove garbage heaps from the streets and clean the drains throughout the district.

The city district Nazim Azam Afridi inaugurated the cleanliness week at a ceremony held at the Qissakhwani Bazaar here on Monday. The Nazim and other representatives broomed the city roads to create awareness in the public.

Speaking on this occasion, Mr Afridi said coordinated efforts were needed to provide a clean environment to the citizens. He urged every segment of the society to keep the city clean and cooperate with sanitation staff.

Azam Afridi also directed the town administration to remove encroachments from the city without any discrimination, so that the historic significance of city could be restored. Later, a walk was also held.
