GILGIT, April 26: The opening of the China-Pakistan border due on May 1, is likely to be delayed because of SARS virus fears, official sources said.
The border between the two neighbouring states opens for trade and tourism activities in the first week of May every year under the Pakistan-China Border Protocol Agreement 1973, and remains operative till December.
The officials said that all arrangements had been made at the Sost border post to screen the people coming from China to check possible entry of SARS virus into Pakistan.
Any passenger suspected of being the carrier of the fatal virus could be quarantined at the facility, they added.
