SWFA to hold football tournament

KARACHI, March 9 Sindh Women's Football Association (SWFA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports is celebrating International Women's Week by holding an Inter-school/inter-club tournament at the Aga Khan Gymkahana ground here.

According to chief organiser and SWFA General Secretary Sadia Sheikh, the tournament features seven teams, namely, City School Whites, City School Blues, SMB Fatima School/ College, Aga Khan Gymkhana Club, Asifa Club, Diya Yellow and Diya Blue. All the matches will be played on a single league basis.

Other organisers comprise Danishmand Farooqui, Fehmida Zameer, Durdana Faisal, Farnaz Iqbal and Dr Anjum Afridi.

Aga Khan Gymkhana Club, Diya Blue and Diya Yellow emerged victorious in the three matches played on Tuesday. Aga Khan Gymkhana Club edged past Asifa Club 1-0. The decider was scored by Shabnum.

In the second match, Diya Blue beat SMB Fatima School/College 3-0 with the goals coming through Ambreen, Kiran Yousuf and Kiran Fatima.

Finally, Diya Yellow beat City School White 4-0. The goals were scored by Mahwesh Khan, Hajra Khan, Hina Javed and Maryam Laghari.

Wednesday's fixtures City School v Asifa Club (2.15pm); SMB Fatima School/College v Aga Khan Gymkhana Club (3.15pm); Diya Blue v Asifa Club (4.15pm). — Sports Reporter
