PESHAWAR, April 26: The Customs Intelligence officials seized 908kg of contraband from a fake Pakistan army water tanker on main Rajar-Charsadda Road early Saturday morning.
According to an official statement, the Customs Intelligence, Peshawar, on being tipped off set up road blockade near Rajar in Charsadda district. At 4am, a water tanker (No 824156), masquerading as that of the army, reached the road-blockade point on main Rajar-Charsadda Road.
The Customs Intelligence officials signalled the vehicle to stop, but the driver accelerated the speed and opened fire on the officials. The Customs Intelligence officials also chased the water tanker. The outlaws, after intense firing, escaped, leaving the water tanker on the road.
During the checking, the Customs Intelligence recovered 908kg of fine quality foreign-made hashish, which was concealed in the water tank.
The value of the seized contraband is estimated to run into millions.
