HYDERABAD, April 25: Syed Nisar Hussain Shah was installed on Thursday as the 11th Sajjada Nasheen of the shrine of the great saint-poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai at Bhit Shah.

He is the eldest son of late Syed Ghulam Shabbir Shah, the 10th Sajjada Nasheen of Shah Latif’s shrine, who passed away three days ago.

The installation ceremony was performed by the Sajjada Nasheen of the shrine of Bulri Shah Karim, Syed Aijaz Hussain Shah. Shah Karim was one of the pioneers of sufism in Sindh and his works and deeds had greatly influenced Shah Latif’s spiritual development.

The ceremony was attended by hundreds of disciples and devotees of Shah Latif.

The new Sajjada Nasheen, along with Syed Aijaz Hussain Shah and other family members, paid homage to Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai and his father, Shah Habib.

Special prayers were offered by the Faqirs (sufi saint’s disciples) of the shrine. Dhamal was also performed on the occasion.

Prominent, among those who attended the ceremony, included Justice (Retd) Syed Sajjad Ali Shah and Syed Amir Haider Shah.

Earlier, the rituals of the third day (Soyem) of demise of late Syed Ghulam Shabbir Shah were held, which were attended by Hakim Ali Zardari, Dr Qadir Magsi, Bashir Khan Qureshi and Syed Jalal Mehmood Shah.
