ISLAMABAD, April 23: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to allot land to the villagers of Bheka Syedan in sector I-14 instead of F-11.

However, landholders of the village have rejected the decision and refused to accept the plots at the undeveloped sector of I-14.

The decision, taken on a proposal sent to the CDA board by the authority’s land and rehabilitation directorate, is said to be contrary to a 1990 agreement between the two sides under which the CDA was to provide land to the villagers in sectors F-11 and I-10 in the vicinity of the village.

According to three different awards — announced in 1980, 1982 and 1985 — some 189 genuine landholders are still deprived of due compensation.

Now, out of the 189 claims, about 12 plots would be allotted in sector F-11 and the remaining would be offered in sector I-14.

A CDA official told Dawn that the 12 plots would be allotted to those who had been recommended by a prominent figure of the village, Shah Baba, who died a few years ago.

On the other hand, the landholders, whose land had been acquired for developing sector F-11, have informed the CDA that they would not accept the land in sector I-14.

The summary sent to the CDA board said the authority had 50 plots in sector F-11, 36 in I-10 and 92 in model villages.
