NEW DELHI, April 23: India’s supreme court on Wednesday asked the government of occupied Kashmir for details about three Pakistanis detained in the held state.

The court gave the directive on petitions filed by Bisarat Ali Rajput, Abdul Khaliq and M. Salahuddin, who say they are in jail for the last nine years.

A government counsel said the three were arrested through 1994 and 1995 as they allegedly crossed the Line of Control.

They were booked under a tough anti-terror law.

The counsel said after their seven-year terms were over, the Indian government had asked Pakistan to take them back but it refused to do so. The court has given the Srinagar government seven days to furnish the details, especially the names of jails where the men are lodged. —AFP
