India hires new lobby firm

Published April 23, 2003

LOS ANGELES, April 22: New Delhi has hired a new powerful lobbying firm from this month in Washington DC to improve its strategic relations with the US as well as increasing its position against Pakistan on “cross-border terrorism” issues, informed sources told Dawn.

The firm Akin, Gump Strauss, Hauer and Feld says the US decisions to lift sanctions on Pakistan and write-off Islamabad’s $1 billion debt are not signs of the administration’s indifference to India’s concerns.
