KARACHI, Nov 10 The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) on Tuesday announced the results of Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) part I (Class XI) premedical group annual examinations 2009.

According to statistics, a total of 13,657 candidates appeared in the exams.

Of these students 5,956 candidates were declared successful in all six papers.

A total of 1,854 students cleared five papers while 1,824 candidates cleared four papers.

As many as 1,970 candidates were declared pass in three papers and 1,175 students were declared pass in two papers.

A total of 619 candidates cleared only one paper.

A BIEK announcement on Tuesday said that marks statements would be issued after two weeks.

Marks sheets of regular candidates would be dispatched to colleges concerned, it was further announced.

First-year home economics results announced

The controller of examinations of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi, Prof Agha Akbar Mirza, has announced the intermediate part I (Class XI) science home economics annual examination 2009 results.

According to statistics, a total of 385 candidates registered in the exams while 353 appeared in the exams.Some 154 candidates cleared all their seven papers. The pass percentage stood at 43.63 per cent.

KU extends admissions date

The University of Karachi has extended the date for submission of admission forms to non-test departments for two days.

This was announced by the director of admissions of the university on Tuesday.

He said that the last date for submission of forms for admission to the non-test departments had been extended to Nov 12.

Candidates could submit duly filled forms only at the Hamid Square Branch of the UBL near the Disco Bakery in Gulshan-i-Iqbal.

Forms could be obtained from the same branch on payment of Rs500.

No other branch of the UBL would issue or accept the forms, it was further announced.

Lyari medical college admissions policy

A spokesperson for the Sindh chief secretary has clarified that no admissions policy for the Lyari Medical College has yet been finalised.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, the spokesperson said that a three-member committee comprising secretaries of the education, health and law departments would shortly submit its recommendations regarding the admissions to the Lyari Medical College to the Sindh chief minister for approval.—APP/PPI
