PESHAWAR, April 21: Two minor boys are allegedly kept in illegal detention by officials of two police stations here.
The Peshawar district and sessions judge, Hayat Ali Shah, in two habeas corpus petitions filed against detention of the two boys, directed the bailiff to visit the police stations and ascertain whether they were in detention.
One petition was filed by advocate Khursheed Khan, stating that a boy of 10, Mustapha Khan, was taken into custody by the officials of the West cantt police station on April 18.
He alleged that the boy was neither produced before any court nor any FIR was registered against him.
Mr Khan has filed the petition under section 491 of the Criminal Procedure Code. He claimed that the boy was in illegal detention.
The court deputed a bailiff to visit the police station. The bailiff would report to the court on Tuesday.
The second petition was filed by Rehmanullah Khan against officials of C-Division police station. He stated that his 13-year-old son, Sajid, was arrested three days ago and was not released.
The petitioner stated that he was asked by the officials concerned to produce his son. He added that he took his son to the station where he was asked by the SHO to leave him there. Since then, he added, he had been looking for his son. He requested the court to issue directives for the release of the detainee.
