ISLAMABAD, April 19: The Punjab chief minister, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, has said appropriate measures are under way to improve investment climate in the province.

While talking to newsmen at Convention Centre after inaugural session of Investment Conference here on Saturday, the chief minister said “industrial zones are being set up in different areas to accelerate economic activities in the province. “Setting up of a new industrial zone in Multan is under way while the matter of Pindi-Bhattian industrial zone is under process”.

Besides, there is a big scope for investment in housing sector to resolve public residential problems in the province, he added.

Pervez Elahi said top priority had been accorded to law and order to protect the interests of business community.

About 400 new police checkposts are being set up in the province to safeguard public interests, he said adding these posts would be located after every 20km distance, he added.

The chief minister said reforms in the police force was also under way to improve the perforce of the force and enhance security protect to the people.

He said the law and order situation had improved significantly and 15 gangs of criminals had also been apprehended by the police. — APP
