PESHAWAR, April 19: Widespread rains lashed Peshawar valley on Friday night. Other parts of NWFP and adjacent tribal areas also received sporadic rains.

According to local Met office, provincial capital received 55mm rain and it forecast intermittent rains and cloudy weather during the next 24 hours as the residents are experiencing pleasant weather.

Many parts of the cantonment including Khyber Supper Market and Army Colony experienced eight hours power breakdown and it was restored in the area around 6.30pm. Maximum temperature was recorded at 24.5 degree centigrade on Saturday.

Reports said heavy downpour demolished four mud houses at Khazana refugee camp on the outskirts of the city. One boy received slight injuries.

The low laying areas received several feet rainwater which inundated roads and streets in the city area. Polyethylene bags chocked the sewerage system.

Faulty sewerage system caused immense problems for  the citizens and all main roads including main Saddar Road and Sunehri Masjid Road.
