Bechtel wins contract

LOS ANGELES, April 19: The US government has awarded a big contract to evaluate and repair Iraq’s power, water and sewerage systems to Bechtel Restoration of San Francisco.

The initial award by the US Agency for International Development (US AID) was for 34.6 million dollars, although the contract could be worth up to 680 million dollars over 18 months.

The larger amount would be subject to congressional approval.
