KARACHI, April 18: The rehabilitation project for affectees of Lyari Expressway is going on at a rapid pace and will soon be completed.

This was stated by Capt Nasir Hayat, Commissioner of SESSI and former project director of the Lyari Expressway, while speaking at a ceremony on Friday in which compensation money of Rs 50,000 and allotment letters were given to the affectees of the Lyari Expressway. He expressed delight over the rapid settlement in the project areas.

Project director Shafique-ur-Rahman Paracha, speaking on the occasion, said that inhabiting a new place is a horrendous task which was accepted by the affectees. They now have the responsibility to take care of their area, he said urging them to work for improving environment in the project area.

He also urged them to help themselves for fulfilling the basic necessities, like education. “Every amenity would be provided to you, but the upkeep and maintenance of standards would rest on your shoulders,” Paracha told the inhabitants.

The UC Nazim of Jamshed Quarters also spoke.

According to official figures, alternative land has been allotted to some 2,400 families, besides payment of compensation to families.
