MOHALI (India), Dec 6: India have recalled controversial batsman Virender Sehwag and fast bowler Javagal Srinath for the second Test against England starting Tuesday.
Sehwag sat out the Mohali game to serve a one-match ban incurred during the second test in South Africa last month.
His naming in the squad for the first England Test triggered a major row between the Indian cricket board and the ICC, cricket’s ruling body.
Srinath, India’s main strike bowler, missed the first Test because of a broken finger. “He informed the board secretary Niranjan Shah he has recovered,” chief selector Chandu Borde told reporters.
The Indian selectors, who met after the hosts completed a 10-wicket victory in the first Test Thursday, left out injured all-rounder Sanjay Bangar and batsman Jacob Martin.
