Pacer Sami strikes as NBP take lead

KARACHI, Oct 10: Young Test fast bowler Mohammad Sami claimed five for 59 as National Bank took a first innings lead of 53 over Pakistan Public Works Department (PWD) on the second day of the Patron’s Trophy Grade-I fixture at Saga Ground in Sialkot Wednesday.

PWD were dismissed for 160 in reply to the bankers’ 213, according to details available here.

National Bank extended their lead to 117 by closing on 64 for one in their second innings with Shahid Anwar batting on 31.

Sami, who bowled 20 overs for the first time after battling a series of injuries, was given good support by Shabbir Ahmed. The tall pacer ripped through the PWD lower order to pick up three for 32 i 17.2 overs.

Only Afsar Nawaz (40) and Riaz Shaikh (35) managed to cross 20. Of the other PWD batsmen, Iqbal Imam (18) and Bazid Khan (11) were able to reach double figures with extras dominating the innings with 42.
