LAHORE, April 16: Four goals by Taimur Malik including a hat trick steered Guard Rice to 6-4 win against Tri Star in the Guard Rice cup polo tournament on Wednesday.

The score was tied 1-1 in the first chukker with Taimur scoring his first scoring a field goal. Raja Sattar equalised minutes later, also crowning a field attempt.

The second chukker was very closely contested with Guard Rice surging 4-3 ahead. Taimur scored his second converting a spot penalty near the goal post. But Ahmad Nawaz Tiwana who struck three for the losers scored back to back goals to make it 3-2.

Thereafter Taimur came to rescue his side completing his hat trick and also restoring the parity 3-3. In the dying minute, Atif Yar Tiwana scored a goal to give Guard Rice the slender lead 4-3.

Taimur netted his fourth goal which was also the lonely goal of the third chukker that increased the lead to 5-3.

In  the final fourth chukker, Ahmad Nawaz scored  his  third goal, converting a 30 yard penalty hit to reduce the margin  5-4. But Ahmad Ali Tiwana slammed a field goal for the winners to make the tally.

Earlier, three goals each by Shaukat Malik and Azam Hayat guided Artex International to earn a convincing 8-3 win  against Diamond Paints.
