PTCL to help ISPs improve services

Published April 17, 2003

ISLAMABAD, April 16: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has announced that it will facilitate the Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to shift from Pakistan Internet Exchange (PIE) to FLAG bandwidth within a week.

The PTCL has also suggested the ISPs to have simultaneous connectivity with PIE and FLAG so that any disruption of service can be avoided in future in case of problems in one link. The decision to this effect has been made in line with the directives of the information technology minister, Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, who, in a meeting, had asked the PTCL to draw up a comprehensive plan to address public complaints regarding the internet connectivity.
