LANDI KOTAL, April 16: Relatives of a bomb blast victim in Landi Kotal have demanded compensation, promised to them by the government.

Zar Wali Shinwari, a shopkeeper, was killed in the blast at Torkhum near his shop on March 28, 2000, with 6 others, including five minors. He was survived by 16 children, with Muhammad Shahid the elder son, who too is a kidney patient.

Muhammad Shahid, the lone breadwinner of his family, in a statement, complained that during the last three years he tried to approach a number of government officials, including the Political administration of the Khyber Agency, but all his pleadings have so far fallen on deaf ears.

He regretted that bomb victims elsewhere in the country were given compensation, but he was denied this right despite lapse of three years.

He appealed to the president, the prime minister and the NWFP governor to look into his matter and provide him monetary assistance.
