HYDERABAD, April 16: The Kotri police on Wednesday picked up Dr Shafiq Bhatti, a homoeopathic practitioner, for being allegedly involved in the trade of human organs from the Sonara Bazaar here.

Police officials said that Dr Shafiq Bhatti was being interrogated at the Kotri police station.

A police official, who talked to this correspondent on the condition of anonymity, said that in his initial statement, Dr Bhatti had blamed Rehmat Masih for trapping him in the case.

Quoting Bhatti, he said that Rehmat Masih wanted to marry a girl and an Amil (a practitioner of the occult) had offered him a Taveez and had told him that he could ensure his marriage to the girl if he obtained the blood of some people in this regard.

The police official said that the doctor had also told the police that Rehmat Masih had brought some addicts to him for securing their blood.

He said that the matter was still unclear and it would take some time to clarify things in this regard.
