LARKANA, April 15: A comprehensive plan to curb criminal activities in border districts of Sindh, Balochistan and Punjab has been submitted to the Sindh government.

This was stated by the regional police officer, Sukkur range, Rahoo Khan Brohi, while talking to newsmen here on Tuesday.

He said the proposal was to protect oil and gas pipelines passing through this area and keep a check on the movement of outlaws.

He said fully-equipped permanent police pickets would be set up in border areas.

The Sukkur RPO said that 100 policemen would be recruited in the first phase of the plan.

Referring to recent meetings of chief ministers, IGPs and home secretaries of the three provinces and representatives of the federal government, the RPO said such meetings would continue to be held to curb criminal activities.

He said the Sindh government had sanctioned 100 pick ups and 250 motorcycles for this purpose.

He said 1,600 policemen and personnel of the Federal Constabulary and the rangers had been deployed at Shahi Wah and Pat Feeder points.

The RPO said experts from the technical wing of the Sindh police would soon undertake a survey of the area to build up a communication system linking the border districts of the provinces.

He said the wireless system of the districts had already been synchronized.

BAN ON TRANSFERS: The Sindh government has banned all kinds of transfers and postings in the police department in the province.

The DPO, Larkana, on Tuesday told this correspondent that he had received a circular in this connection from the regional police officer, Sukkur.

All the DPOs in the province have been told not to make any transfers or postings right from the rank of constable to DSP, he said.
