QUETTA, May 9 Mir Changez Khan Jamali of the Pakistan People's Party has been elected unopposed as member of the National Assembly from NA-266 after withdrawal of National Party candidate Nazir Ahmed Khosa.

Twenty-seven other candidates had also withdrawn their papers in favour of Changez Jamali in the by-election.

The Jaffarabad-Nasirabad seat had fallen vacant last month after the death of Taj Mohammad Jamali. Changez Jamali is the son of Taj Jamali.

After successful negotiations between former prime minister Mir Zafarullah Jamali and National Party president Senator Dr Abdul Malik Baloch and senior vice-president Mir Hasil Bizenjo, Mr Khosa withdrew his candidature in favour of Changez Jamali.

Mr Bizenjo told newsmen on Saturday “We have withdrawn our candidate in favour of Mir Changez Jamali in view of the situation in the area.”
