UPPER DIR, Sept 13 The district administration of Upper Dir has declared the remote Doog Darra area cleared of Taliban militants and asked the internally displaced persons to return to their homes.
Giving a press briefing, District Coordination Officer Javed Marwat and District Police Offier Ijaz Ahmad said Frontier Constabulary personnel, police and the local lashkar torched 127 houses of the Taliban and their supporters in Doog Darra in the joint operation against the Taliban militants who put up no resistance.
They said during the operation the security forces did not face any resistance or reaction from the militants and they cleared the area easily. A police post has been set up in the area to ensure peace and security to the returning IDPs.
Display of arms has been banned in the area where the government did not enjoy complete writ previously. “Our police, administration and particularly people deserve congratulations for defeating the Taliban.
