GUJAR KHAN, April 13: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali has announced a Rs50 million uplift package for Gujar Khan as well as provision of gas to the villages, including Changa Maira, falling in five-kilometre radius of the oil and gas fields in the Tehsil.

He made these announcements in a public gathering held at Changa Mira Village on Sunday. He was visiting the village in connection with the death anniversary of Taj Ali, a local political and social figure.

The prime minister announced establishment of a girls higher secondary school at Changa Mira for which Chaudhry Iftikhar, son of late Taj Ali, had also donated 20 kanals. He also announced provision of an ambulance to the local basic health centre, electrification of two neighbouring villages and construction of link roads in the Tehsil.

He said he was aware of the problems being faced by the people in the far-flung rural areas. He also promised allocation of required funds for the development projects at the earliest.

Earlier, District Nazim Raja Tariq Kiani, in his welcome speech, apprised the prime minister about the development activities being carried out in the district.

He called for provision of special grant to the district government for maintenance of link roads and electrification of remaining areas in the district.
