QUETTA, Jan 28 Heavy snowfall in Khojak, Kanmetherzai, Ziarat and Quetta on Sunday caused a suspension of traffic on highways between Quetta and Chaman and Loralai and Ziarat.

However, the authorities restored traffic on the Quetta-Sibi and Quetta-Khuzdar roads after clearing the Kolpur and Lakpass areas.

The Quetta valley received four inches of snowfall in four hours.

The heavy snowfall in Kanmetherzai area caused suspension of traffic between Quetta and Loralai-Zhob.

Ziarat valley also received heavy snow, bringing the mercury down to minus 11 degrees Celsius.

Most people remained indoors. In Quetta, hundreds of families flocked to the picnic spots of Hanna and Urak areas.

Children threw snowballs at each other and at passing vehicles.

Most of the government departments and private institutions reported thin attendance.
