QUETTA, Jan 25 Nawabzada Talal Akbar Bugti, chief of his own faction of Jamhoori Watan Party, has demanded provinces' control over their resources.

Addressing party workers here on Friday, he said the government should stop the extra-constitutional methods being used in Balochistan, adding that despite having killed Nawab Akbar Bugti, Nawabzada Balach Marri and thousands of other Balochs, the government had failed to achieve its objectives.

He said that a political movement enjoying people's support could not be suppressed by the state apparatus.

Mr Talal warned opposition parties that their participation in the coming elections would strengthen the dictatorship and said that autocratic rulers would neither hold transparent elections nor hand over power to the majority party in parliament.

He said the JWP, being a component of the All Parties Democratic Movement, appealed to the people to boycott the elections, adding that a decisive movement by the opposition could liberate the people from dictatorial regime.

The JWP leader said that the country was facing a serious political crisis and lawlessness, unemployment, price-hike, power and gas loadshedding and shortage of flour had created a situation in which elections held under the Musharraf regime would further aggravate it.

He assured the workers that the party would not compromise on principles or on the rights of the people of Balochistan and would continue its struggle for the rule of law and greater autonomy for the provinces.
