KARACHI, April 11: Sindh government’s Katchi Abadi department has been devolved and merged with the Katchi Abadi department of the City District Government. A notification has also been issued in this regard, City Nazim Naimatullah Khan told at a meeting on Friday.

The meeting was convened to discuss revision of lease rates.

The meeting decided to revise the lease rates for Katchi Abadis after June 30, to raise city government‘s income. The persons approaching for regularization before June 30, 2003, would be granted lease at the existing rates and to make it convenient, special camps would be set up at Katchi Abadis, the meeting further decided.

No Kachi Abadi, listed with Sindh Katchi Abadi Authority after June 16, 2002, would be granted lease. No plot measuring over 200 yards in any Katchi Abadi would be leased. In Ittehad Town, Katchi abadi, all the industrial plots would be considered as commercial and charged accordingly. As for the old city area, the lease rates would be decreased but the approval of the same would be sought in next city council session, a CDGK press release said.—PPI
