NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, April 10: A businessman has accused the taluka police officer, Naushahro Feroze, of torturing him and taking Rs15,000 for his release.

The man, Chanchal, has sent telegrams to the chief justice of the Sindh High Court, chief minister, DIGP and other authorities concerned in this connection.

He also submitted an application before the district and sessions judge on Thursday.

Talking to Dawn, Mr Chanchal said TPO Muzaffar Kalwar had called him at his office and when he along with Mohammad Khan Chandio met the TPO, he abused him and threatened him with implicating in a false case.

He said he was freed after paying Rs15,000 to the TPO.

Mr Chanchal and his brother-in-law, Edan Das, told Dawn they had met DPO Mohammad Dawood Junejo and were also filing a complaint against the TPO.

They demanded an inquiry into the matter and transfer of the police officer.

SNATCHED: Three armed robbers snatched a motorcycle from Nasrullah Siyal on the Mevo Khan Siyal Link Road, Tharushah, on Thursday.

Mr Siyal was also deprived of Rs3,000 in cash.

GUTTED: Six houses were gutted when fire broke out in the Mohammad Sadiq Siyal village near Tharushah on Thursday.

The houses of Mohammad Siyal, Wazir Ali, Ramzan, Mohammad Bux, Mohammad Khan and Akbar Siyal were reduced to ashes.
