GILGIT, April 9: People of the Gupis village, some 100km west of here, have recovered bodies of a married woman and her daughter from a lake.

Police sources said they went missing on April 4.

The villagers searching for the two women had found their clothes near the Gupis Lake and after spotting their bodies fished them out.

The dead were identified as Sifat Bibi, wife of Zarawar Khan, and her daughter Naheed Akhter.

The in-laws of Sifat Bibi ruled out any enmity and said Sifat was mentally abnormal.

In another incident, a teenager of Majeeni Mohalla, Gilgit, committed suicide on Tuesday.

Police said Suhail Abbas, 17, shot himself after a domestic feud with his elders.

SPRING FESTIVAL: Over 48 Japanese tourists witnessed the Spring Festival celebrated in Gilgit and Ghizer during the cherry blossom season in the Northern Areas. They also visited historical, cultural and scenic areas.
