HYDERABAD, April 9: The vice-chancellor, University of Sindh, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, on Wednesday inaugurated the founder’s week by planting a sapling in front of the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science.

The founder’s week is being celebrated to pay homage to renowned scholar and philosopher Allama I. I. Kazi on his 35th death anniversary.

Deans of various faculties, heads of institutes and departments, teachers and students of the university attended the inaugural ceremony.

A book fair, organized by the Allama I. I. Kazi Central Library, was also inaugurated which would continue till April 12.

The Institute of Sindhology, Vanguard Book Publication, Tawakal Academy, Global Link International Service, Pak Book Corporation and the Paramount Books displayed their books at the fair.

Various programmes will be held after teaching hours, which include lectures at Urdu, Sindhi and Economics departments, a seminar and tree plantation at the Dr N. A. Baloch Model School, Hyderabad, and a debate at the Instructional Technology Centre. A seminar on “Educational Philosophy of Allama I. I. Kazi” will be held at the Pakistan Study Centre, Jamshoro.
